Another great meal and great service at Kirin Court. This is our absolute favorite place in the metroplex. Love the carts rolling around with hot fresh food choices! Jason is a great server and super attentive. We get the usual favorite dim sum staples of Har gow, shui mai, chicken feet, spare ribs, shrimp balls, shrimp wontons, and other items that I missed taking pictures of like the BBQ pork fun rolls, congee, fried pork dumplings, along with two orders of baked char sui baos, two orders of steamed char sui baos, and crispy noodles with beef....to go. Delicious!!!
Update - June 25 We went for lunch with the family, also with the in-laws of our daughter. We ordered lots of different kinds of dimsum, everyone enjoyed. The place was not crowded on weekdays. Serving Staff were attentive, helpful and friendly. Nicely decorated Chinese motif.
Great authentic flavors! Quick service and friendly staff! Love coming here with the family to catch up and enjoy great food!
1. Service - the hostess in the front were nice, and so were the food cart service team, and the wait staff. We got greeted by the same waiter who didn't reappear until he came to collect our payment. Was he our designated waiter? Not sure, but we got service from other waitresses nearby. Perhaps this is a team service? When you enter the building, provide the hostess the number of people in your party, they'll issue you a ticket with a number, wait to be seated, and order your food as the food carts are being pushed around. Order your dishes in Cantonese or in English. Learn the dishes prior or show them pictures of what you want. As you order, they will stamp the number dishes you're ordering on a piece of paper at your table. You pay at the end at your table. 2. Price - for dim sum, dishes were $3-$5 per tray/small plate. That's average as things add up. You may order 10-15 trays of food between 2-3 people. 3. Ambiance - this is a legit dining hall for Cantonese dim sum, events, and weddings. Couldn't be happier to see some familiarity in a visiting city. Dress code here is casual. 4. Food - dishes I recommend: Ha Gao (Shrimp dumplings), Siu Mei (Shrimp and Pork dumplings), Turnip Cake, Cha Siu Bao (BBQ Pork Dumplings), Egg Tarts, Nai Wong Bao (Egg custard Buns), and Fried Taro. 5. Cleanliness - dining area appears clean. They ran out of paper towels in the restroom. That was a bummer, as several guys came out of the restrooms with wet hands. Haha. Something that needs to be on top of for the restaurant. SUMMARY Overall, this place has some really good dim sum. This is what to expect when you crave it. Push carts, Cantonese being spoken, and all the dishes you normally would order at a typical dim sum restaurant. I recommend this place, and would definitely come back.
It's hard to find good authentic dim sum with the traditional cart service these days, so I'm glad we came here at the recommendation of a friend with local knowledge of the area. It was later confirmed by a DFW native that Kirin Court is the OG place for dim sum. There's nothing quite like the nostalgia of attendants carting around steamed dishes while calling them out and hustling to push them onto your table, sometimes rather insistently, and sometimes with the slightest hint of judgment. The restaurant is located on the second level of a shopping complex. Parking was easy in the small lot outside. We went early on a weekday before it got busy and were promptly seated and served. There were only a few carts going around at the time, I assume because it wasn't busy yet, but we were still able to get our food almost as soon as we sat down. The food was very good with a decent variety of all the popular dim sum items. The steamed buns were close to the best I've had anywhere. They were soft and fluffy and fresh. The radish cakes were good, not great, but we saw them making it behind the counter at the front so at least they were fresh. The har gow, steamed rice rolls with beef, sticky rice, and egg tarts were all tasty and satisfying. Service was very efficient. Our empty dishes were promptly removed, waters refilled quickly, and the check arrived as soon as we were done. When the carts weren't nearby, we were able to order more dishes and they were brought to our table. It's easy to tell this place fills up fast and they are prepared for it. Highly recommended for the fresh, quality food and the traditional dining experience. We will be back for sure!
I've been coming here regularly for a couple of years now and finally decided to give it a review. This is probably one of the best, if not the best place for dim sum in the dfw metroplex. Definitely get here early as there's usually a 30-60 minute wait for a table. The ambiance is a tradition banquet hall style Hong Kong dim sum restaurant with the traditional carts and everything. Service here can be spotty but I'm willing to overlook that issue due to the fact that it's super busy for weekend brunch. Food here is fresh and authentic. The carts are always rolling around, and the walk up foods are also fantastic. Whenever I have guests in town and they want dim sum, this is my go to place. Will definitely be back!
My 6 year-old daughter loves dumplings so I have been wanting to take her to get dim sum. Judging from what I saw online, this place looked to be about the best possible dim sum experience for her and it did not disappoint. Everything was delicious. She loved the cart service and ambiance and thanked me for the experience. We'll definitely be back.
Kirin Court is probably one of the better dim sum place in the metroplex. Expect quite a wait on weekends for brunch/lunch. It gets pretty busy so don't expect top notch service. Just like any typical dim sum restaurants, the service could be a little lacking. They do push the carts around here. They have a lot of variety of dim sum to choose from. There's something for everyone. When we are craving for dim sum, we are willing to do the drive here. It's 50 minutes from where I live, so that tells you a lot about how good the dim sum is here.
